Lepel Ski Track

"Lepel Ski Track-2011" brought together hundreds of healthy lifestyle enthusiasts on the snowy expanses of Lake Lepel, opposite the town park. Teams from enterprises and organizations, as well as educational institutions, took part. The strongest skiers were identified in the individual competition as well.

The Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Nikolai Nikitin, addressed the participants and guests of the event with a welcoming speech. He wished everyone present to continue to be friends with sports, to always be healthy and cheerful.

First, teams from enterprises and organizations competed in a ski relay race. Each sports team consisted of five people. Men covered a distance of one thousand meters, women – 500 meters. The relay was passed from one athlete to another within a special ten-meter "corridor". When all adult participants finished, representatives of educational institutions, whose teams consisted of three young men and two girls, moved forward briskly. They competed for victory over the same distances as the adult athletes.

Separate starts were organized for skiers competing in the individual event. All interested individuals could participate in this sports competition. Championships were held in age groups: up to 30 years old, from 31 to 50 years old, and among sports enthusiasts aged 51 and over. The distances were: men – one thousand meters, women – 500 meters.

Among enterprises and organizations, the athletes from the Department of Internal Affairs of the District Executive Committee were the first to finish. The winning team included Alexander Anoshko, Valeria Babenko, Tatyana Beloglazova, Alexander Latushkin, and Alexey Telyatko. The sports team "Energetik", consisting of employees of the district electricity networks, energy supervision, and other energy organizations, took second place in the ski relay. Sports enthusiasts from the milk and canned goods plant secured the third position in the competition standings.

True fighting qualities were demonstrated by representatives of educational institutions. The young athletes were not hindered even by the strong westerly wind, which seemed to pierce through with its frosty cold, took their breath away, and tried to knock them off their feet with sudden gusts. However, in vain. The skiers stubbornly moved forward. As a result, the Novavolosovitskaya Secondary School took the overall team victory, the representatives of the Lepel State Vocational Lyceum took second place, and the Stayskaya Secondary School took third place.

The sports rivalry in the individual standings was no less intense. In the age group up to 30 years, Alexander Rabtsevich won among men, and Svetlana Spiridonova among women. And among those who started the ski race aged 31 to 50, there were none who could withstand the male pressure and will to win of Oleg Bokhan, as well as the female agility and ingenuity of Larisa Staynova.
The sports rivalry of skiers who have surpassed the half-century age mark was of particular interest. Eduard Akulevich finished first among men, and Lidiya Yakubovskaya became the best among women.

The winners and prize-winners of the "Lepel Ski Track-2011" physical culture and sports festival in the team and individual standings were awarded Diplomas from the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the District Executive Committee and Cups. The oldest participants in the competition, Alla Zhaleyko and Alexander Kulakov, were awarded commemorative prizes and Diplomas from the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism of the District Executive Committee.
