From late August, the rutting season for elk and red deer begins in the hunting grounds. Primarily in the morning hours, the forest and its surroundings are filled with the calls of roaring males. With the onset of September and the first autumn chills, the mating season enters its active phase and lasts until mid-October.

From August 20, in accordance with the Hunting Rules, hunting for male elk, red deer, and fallow deer opens.

During this period, until September 30, it is permitted to hunt adult males, including those of trophy quality, as well as selective animals (regardless of sex and age).

This hunt is typically conducted by luring males ("on the call").

Permitted hunting methods include rifle hunting from an ambush, and stalking throughout the day.

Permitted hunting implements: rifled hunting weapons with a muzzle energy of over 3000 joules, smooth-bore hunting weapons using slugs, hunting bows, and crossbows.

For tracking downed and pursuing wounded game animals, hunting dogs are permitted, including pointers, spaniels, retrievers, terriers, and dachshunds, as well as dogs of other breeds with a field diploma for blood tracking.
