Oksana Tereshkova, Deputy Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, who oversees economic and business matters, is a frequent visitor to enterprises in the Lepel district.

This time, the focus of Oksana Anatolyevna's attention was the Lepel Bakery branch of Vitebskhleboprom OJSC.

Accompanying her were Olga Khatskevich, an assistant hygienist at the Lepel District Centre for Hygiene and Epidemiology, who was conducting assessment activities as part of an interdepartmental group, and a newspaper correspondent.
The branch director, Vladimir Kurennoi, gave the guests a tour of the workshops, explaining the ongoing repair work, what will be done in the near future, and future plans.
"We produce a socially significant product, without which no Belarusian menu is complete. And although we have many competitors, as large chains offer a wide range of bakery products, people still come to our branded shop 'Goryachiy Khleb' for products, not only from the town but also from rural areas," noted Vladimir Petrovich.
While everyone was paying attention to the walls, ceilings, and windows, and clarifying details and asking questions, I observed and photographed how the dough was "growing," which would soon take shape, be placed in special proofing cabinets, and a little later – in a large oven. And then, you and I will see the airy, golden-brown, incredibly aromatic baked goods in the shops.
It should be noted that the enterprise produces about 100 tons of bakery products and about two to three tons of confectionery products monthly. The plant supplies its products both to retail outlets in our district and to residents of neighbouring regions – to Chashniki, Beshenkovichi, Novolukoml, and even Vitebsk.
More than 90 people work here. The core of the team consists of experienced hereditary bakers.
For example, in the bakery section, we were met by Lyudmila Murashkevich, the workshop head, who has been working at the enterprise for 35 years. She came here as a young girl and has stayed for many years, unable to imagine herself without her beloved work.
Lyudmila Viktorovna remembers how many years ago, the people of Lepel gladly bought the "Domashniy" sponge cake with jam and crumbs. It is no longer baked. However, new culinary products have appeared, which disappear from shop shelves very quickly. The "Vesenneye Nastroyeniye" cake, the "Stolichny" cupcake with raisins,"Kokoski" and "Chocolate Bushe" pastries, "Desiree" cake, "New Empress", "Polentse", "Grechanka", "Sesame Strip", "Scheherazade's Tales" cake, "Carmen" flour confectionery, numerous types of gingerbread and cookies -- this and other baked goods are in high demand among the population.
A confirming fact is that for January-October of this year, the Lepel Bakery Branch produced industrial products amounting to 113.6 percent of last year's level. The enterprise is working with retail outlets to increase product supply volumes and expand the range of goods in shops in the town and district. For example, sales volumes have increased in the "Santa" retail chain, in the retail outlets of ZAO "Vitebskagrop produkt", as well as in KUP "Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center "Zhemchuzhina" and other retail chains. New supply agreements have been concluded with ChUP "Novaya Raduga" in Novolukoml, individual entrepreneur Dmitry Dyatko, and OOO "Akstekhnogrupp".
We remind you that in the summer, the branch opened a new retail outlet in the village of Stai, and in the near future, the opening of another rural outlet is planned.
The range of manufactured products has been expanded. 3 new types of confectionery have appeared: "Koketka" flour confectionery, "Makovichek", and flour confectionery with cinnamon. Feedback on the new products is positive, everyone has found something to their taste. In total, the branch produces over 30 types of confectionery and over 30 types of bakery products, including 30 types of buns and 31 types of bread.
It is gratifying that in October, an agreement was concluded for the supply of products to the Russian Federation with OOO "TransLine". Thus, the geography of those wishing to buy Lepel bread and confectionery is expanding.
Equipment modernization is also underway. For example, in November, an automatic line for forming small-sized sweet and bun products SY-860 was purchased at a cost of 246 thousand rubles. ...And the enterprise does not intend to stop there.
I forgot to mention the favourite bread of Lepel residents. According to surveys of district residents, this list includes: grain bread, "Dukhmyany" baked bread, "Lavatera" with caraway seeds, "Vyaliki Gastsinets", "Braslavski Krai", "Essensky", "Morochansky" aromatic hearth bread, "Lepelsky", garlic bread, "Traditsionny", "Pazhitny", "Vosenki Padarunak"... -- the range of delicious products is very diverse.

previously noted remarks have been eliminated, and the technological documentation has been put in order. In addition, the branch management is interested in the development of the enterprise, expanding the range of manufactured products and the geography of supplies.
