The work of the Chairman of the District Executive Committee involves constant meetings with people and solving specific life and production tasks. Special attention is paid to the state of affairs in agro-towns and other settlements of the district, increasing agricultural production, and improving the material well-being of villagers. Recently, Petr Shikshnyan met with the workforces of OJSC "Chareyshchina", KUVSGP "Bobrovo", and residents of the Bobrovo rural council. Petr Genrikhovich spoke about the significant growth in the yield of grain, potatoes, and other agricultural crops achieved in the district this year, the successful harvest, the accumulation of sufficient feed for the winter housing period of cattle, and the laying of a reliable foundation for further increasing milk and meat production. For example, the task of achieving an average of 4800 kilograms of milk per cow in 2011 is seen as fully achievable. This guarantees stable and decent earnings for agricultural workers.
During a lively dialogue, residents of the agro-towns Chareyshchina and Bobrovo requested assistance in bringing natural gas to these settlements. As Petr Shikshnyan explained, the central gas pipeline is very far from these settlements, making it impossible to resolve the issue at present. The needs of the rural population for liquefied gas are fully met by RVU "Lepelraygaz".
Villagers are also dissatisfied with the quality of tap water from local artesian wells. Unfortunately, Petr Genrikhovich noted, it is also currently impossible to positively resolve this issue, as it would require the construction of de-ironing stations, which demand enormous financial resources that are unavailable.
During the meetings, discussions also covered improving housing and communal services for the rural population, the route of the bus from Matyrino to Lepel stopping at the district hospital micro-district, the faster demolition of dilapidated, ownerless residential buildings in certain villages of the district, further landscaping work in settlements, and some other issues that concern people. All these matters have been assigned to the relevant district services for careful study and, where possible, resolution.
The meetings of the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Petr Shikshnyan, with villagers have shown that all problems can eventually be resolved if we work better and more efficiently, achieving higher rates of agricultural production growth.
