The first international forest festival of professional skills will bring together participants from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia in Polotsk from November 11-14, as reported to BelTA by the Polotsk State Forestry College, which will host the event.
The event will unite 120 people, including 80 direct participants – students of educational institutions specialising in forestry. The busiest day, featuring professional skills competitions, will be November 13. The programme includes two major stages: the "Logger-2019" competition and the forest trail challenge. The former includes tasks such as tree felling, branch trimming, saw chain assembly on a special tool, combined cutting, and precision cutting. On the forest trail route, approximately 3 km long, contestants will have 1 hour and 10 minutes to complete 10 stations where they must perform various specialised tasks. For example, identifying animal species, spruce yield, the horizon of a precise cut, etc.
Winners will be determined in individual and team categories.
In addition to the competition, festival participants can look forward to exploring the sights of ancient Polotsk and participating in volleyball, basketball, and table tennis tournaments.
The organiser is the Polotsk State Forestry College branch of BSTU.
