Forestries of Belarus have more than doubled the procurement of commercial honey over four years. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the ministry's press secretary, Darya Lepeshko.
Specifically, in 2010, forestries procured 45.4 tonnes of honey, in 2011 - 61.3 tonnes, in 2012 - 73.1 tonnes, in 2013 - 80.3 tonnes, and in 2014, 103 tonnes of honey were already obtained. According to the press secretary, the growth in volumes is the result of increased attention to honey production in recent years.
According to the ministry's data, in 2014, a total of 82.3 tonnes of honey were sold across the republic, including 19.7 tonnes in the Brest region, 14.3 tonnes in the Vitebsk region, 8.3 tonnes in the Gomel region, 5.1 tonnes in the Grodno region, 24.4 tonnes in the Minsk region, and 10.5 tonnes in the Mogilev region.
Beekeeping activities are carried out in accordance with the Beekeeping Development Program in the organizations of the Ministry of Forestry for 2011-2015.
