Forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region plan to export about 2 thousand fir trees to Russia during the pre-New Year period, Oleg Gritskevich, a leading engineer for subsidiary forest use and auxiliary agriculture of the association, told a BELTA correspondent.
The first batch of trees (300 fir trees with a total cost of 1.5 thousand euros) was sent to St. Petersburg this week by the Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise. The Liozno Forestry Enterprise will ship 500 trees to Bryansk. Negotiations on supplies are also underway with other forestry enterprises of the region.
Active sales of fir trees have also begun in the Vitebsk region. The enterprises of the Vitebsk State Forestry Association have already sold 2.6 thousand New Year trees worth over Br80 million to various enterprises, organizations, cultural, educational and other institutions. In total, during the remaining days of December, forestry enterprises plan to sell more than 40 thousand trees to the public, including 500 blue spruce trees in tubs from the Glubokoye Experimental Forestry Enterprise. "The latter are in particular demand, as after the New Year holidays they can well wait for spring on the balcony, and then adorn the country houses of townspeople. At last year's auctions, the entire volume of blue spruce trees in tubs prepared for sale (over 100) was sold in a matter of hours," noted Oleg Gritskevich.
Mass sales will take place in the region on December 22, 23, 29, and 30. Sales will be carried out in all cities, district centers, agro-towns and large settlements. In Vitebsk, the network of Christmas tree markets includes 19 points covering the entire city, including new housing areas. The largest Christmas tree markets will be located on Lenina Street, at the Smolensk and Polotsk markets, and Proletarskaya Square.
The cost of the main attribute of the New Year up to 1 m will be Br40 thousand, 1-2 m - Br50 thousand, 2-3 m - Br75 thousand, 3-4 m - Br122 thousand, 4-5 m - Br190 thousand.
Oleg Gritskevich also reminded about the responsibility for unauthorized tree felling. In order to protect fir plantations, forests will be patrolled in the last decade of December. In addition to forestry workers, the raid groups will include employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate, tax authorities, the regional committee for natural resources and environmental protection, and other interested departments. -0-
