Forestries of the Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association (Vitebsk GPPLHO) have almost doubled their export of planting material and forest plant seeds this spring season compared to the same period last year. This is the highest result among all GPPLHOs in the country, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the association.
Export revenues amounted to Br719.5 thousand, or 183.3% compared to the 2018 level. 9.2 million coniferous trees and shrubs were exported to Russia for landscaping and afforestation after fires. A trial batch of timber was sent to Latvia for the first time. Swedish partners have been regular consumers of elite European spruce seeds for 15 years. This year, forestries of the Vitebsk region shipped 195 kg of this product to them.
A total of almost Br1.3 million was received from the sale of planting material and forest plant seeds. 13.3 million various coniferous trees and shrubs and 840 kg of seeds were sold to consumers. The largest revenues from the sale of planting material of tree and shrub species and forest plant seeds were obtained by Glubokskoye Experimental, Tolochinskoye, Begomlskoye, Polotskoye, Disna, Lepel, and Orsha forestries.
There are 17 nurseries in the forestries of the Vitebsk region, with a total area of over 200 hectares. Approximately 40 million units of planting material are grown annually, including 2.5 million with a closed root system.
