Over the first three months of this year, the forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region harvested 827 thousand cubic meters of timber. This information was announced at a meeting on the financial and economic situation of the region's forestry enterprises with the participation of the Minister of Forestry, Alexander Kulik.
Igor Malashevich, Head of the Economics and Investment Department of the Ministry of Forestry, assessed the performance of the Vitebsk region's forestry enterprises in comparison with their counterparts from the Minsk region. "Your leasing payment volume is on par with your colleagues from the Minsk region. However, their revenue is one and a half to two times higher. Our analysis has once again shown that everything starts with timber harvesting," he noted.
In three months, the forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region harvested 827 thousand cubic meters of timber. This is 9% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, a number of the region's forestry enterprises did not reach their planned targets and, moreover, experienced a decline compared to last year's levels.
"The equipment in the forestry enterprises remains the same, and in some cases, new equipment has been acquired; the same people are still working, yet we are reducing the pace. I see no explanation for this," assessed the performance of the lagging forestry enterprises Yuri Lipsky, General Director of Vitebsk State Production Forestry Association.
