17 July, Vitebsk /Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Lev Leshchenko advocates for quotas on the broadcast of foreign music. The People's Artist of Russia made this statement at a press conference traditionally held for the international arts festival - "Star Hour", a BELTA correspondent reports. In the maestro's opinion, the emergence of hits like "Million Scarlet Roses", "Lavanda", or "Solov'inaya Roshcha" on the modern stage is hindered by music differentiation. "There are many TV and radio channels that follow their own formats. Therefore, it is impossible to focus on one hit now. Nowadays, to hear a hit like 'Lavanda', it needs to be played on all channels. And there are good songs, but unfortunately, the format is killing us," stated Lev Leshchenko. The singer is convinced that foreign music on domestic channels should be subject to quotas. "I know that Belarus has such a quota. There cannot be more than 50% of foreign repertoire in rotation," he believes. Incidentally, this practice is the norm in both Europe and America. "Meanwhile, this does not mean that national music should not integrate, but we must not forget our true Russian, Belarusian, Ukrainian culture, and especially music," emphasized Lev Leshchenko.-0-
