On July 18, Vitebsk / Alexander Sam - BELTA /. People's Artist of Russia Lev Leshchenko sang a new song and gave a stage name to a Russian singer at a concert in Vitebsk on the evening of July 17, reports BELTA correspondent.
Taking the stage of the packed Summer Amphitheatre, the maestro of Russian pop music noted that he dedicates the concert to his friends. "I have a lot of friends in Belarus, and I am glad that my second jubilee performance will take place on the Vitebsk land," said the laureate of the Special Award of the President of Belarus "Through Art - to Peace and Understanding".
The theme of true friendship between artists from Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, symbolizing the unbreakable bonds of peoples, became the main storyline of the concert. A constellation of "People's," "Honored" artists, and laureates of the pop song competition in Vitebsk congratulated Lev Leshchenko on his 70th birthday: Igor Luchenok, Anatoly Yarmolenko, Nikolai Gnatiuk, Maxim Dunaevsky, Lolita, Alexander Marshal, Sofia Onopchenko, Soso Pavliashvili, Rustam Shtark, Ruslan Alekhno, Alsou, Nadezhda Babkina, Oksana Bogoslovskaya, Varvara, Vladimir Vinokur... Together with them, Lev Leshchenko sang duets of songs from his repertoire, which have become part of the golden fund of Soviet and Russian music, including "Roditelsky Dom" (Parental Home), "Tango Nashey Lyubvi" (Tango of Our Love), "Gorodskiye Tsvety" (City Flowers), "Ekho" (Echo), "Ochi Chernye" (Black Eyes)...
The composition "My - Deti Galaktiki" (We Are Children of the Galaxy) was performed as a quartet by Leshchenko, Gnatiuk, Pavliashvili, and Yarmolenko. The performance was symbolic and touching.
Upon hearing the chords of the song "Den Pobedy" (Victory Day), the audience rose to their feet and sang the legendary lyrics along with Lev Leshchenko.
Noting that "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" ignites new names in the constellation of pop stars, Lev Leshchenko introduced a new Russian singer to the audience. "We thought for a long time about how to present this girl, as she has not performed on a big stage. She is still a schoolgirl, originally from a village in Voronezh, and I am sure she has a brilliant future ahead of her. In honor of her debut taking place at 'Slavianski Bazaar,' we decided to give her the name Slaviana," said the jubilee artist. The young performer charmed the audience with her voice, singing a Russian folk song.
The concert by Lev Leshchenko once again confirmed that in July, Vitebsk becomes not only a meeting place for artists from different countries but also for compatriots. Congratulating the jubilee, his long-time friend Maxim Dunaevsky admitted that he could only do so in Vitebsk, as it is impossible for them to meet in Moscow due to lack of time. Lev Leshchenko also sang a duet with Lolita for the first time. "I hope it turned out well," the artist joked.
"Lev Leshchenko sings songs with soul, which is why they are eternal," noted People's Artist of the USSR Igor Luchenok, explaining the maestro's incredible popularity.
On this evening, Lev Leshchenko was not so much receiving congratulations as giving songs, joy, and love. A real gift for the concert audience, all guests, and festival participants was the new song "We are one whole!", dedicated to the sincere and faithful friendship of people and nations. -0-
