Two Belarusian participants in the XVI Open Republican Championship "Lesorub-2010" (Logger-2010), which is held on September 3-4 at the Pinsk Forestry Enterprise, became leaders in the individual competitions of woodcutters. This was reported to BELTA correspondent by the chief judge of the competition, chief specialist of the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus, Nikolai Pototsky.
73 woodcutters from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania and Estonia, including 50 Belarusians, are taking part in the competition.
The winner in the individual competitions was Sergey Plekhov, a forester from the Belynichi Forestry Enterprise of the Mogilev State Production Forestry Association (GPKHO), who scored 652 points out of a maximum possible 660. Vladimir Gorelov, a woodcutter from the Rossonsky Forestry Enterprise of the Vitebsk GPKHO, has the same number of points. According to additional indicators, this woodcutter took second place. According to additional indicators, the bronze medal in the individual woodcutting competitions went to Vladimir Dashugin.
After the first exercise in the team competition, the teams of Russia and the Grodno PPKHO are leading with the same number of points (1928).
Nikolai Pototsky noted the high level of training of Belarusian woodcutters, who today are worthy competitors to loggers from Russia and Estonia, who are champions of world woodcutting championships.
This year, team relay competitions have also been organized, which have already confirmed their popularity during the regional stages of the championship. Forwarder operator competitions are also underway. For the first time, tractor drivers of loading and unloading forest machines demonstrated their skills.
Bench competitions will be held on September 4 at the DOSAAF stadium in the city of Pinsk.
As Nikolai Pototsky emphasized, the woodcutting competitions not only hone professional skills but also study the experience of the best loggers from other countries. The competitions are a kind of certification of woodcutting skills according to international rules. For the participants of the national team of Belarus (it has already been formed), this is serious training, a kind of general rehearsal before the world woodcutting championship, which will be held on September 23 this year in the Croatian city of Zagreb. -0-
