The "Inspiration of Waltz, Triumph of Waltz!" dance festival for lyceum students will take place in Novopolotsk on January 28, a BELTA correspondent was informed by the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.
The organisers and main participants of the festival are the students and teachers of the city lyceum. "The waltz evening is not just a vibrant event illustrating a universal passion, but also the lyceum's calling card. It is a city festival beloved by the residents of Novopolotsk and eagerly anticipated," noted Oksana Areshkova, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the lyceum.
Lyceum students hold a waltz evening annually. As the institution is over 20 years old, the festival has its own established traditions. For instance, once every five years, a themed evening is held dedicated to the anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the 2014/2015 academic year, on the eve of the significant date – the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory – the waltz evening "In Honour of the Fiery Glory of the Victory Heroes!" took place. In preparation for it, the lyceum students delved into history to narrate the story of the generation of victors through art, reviving in memory that which is cherished and sacred.
This time, the evening is titled "Inspiration of Waltz, Triumph of Waltz!". The organisers promise many discoveries and surprises. Eleven dance ensembles will perform in the competition programme (corresponding to the total number of 10th and 11th grade classes at the lyceum). "The honour of opening the waltz evening will be granted to lyceum graduates from different years, who responded with great pleasure and immense enthusiasm to the creative call of the event organisers. Thus, the tender and touching waltz by Yevgeny Doga, performed by a group of graduates, will serve as the starting point for the competition programme," explained Oksana Areshkova.
The dance ensembles from the classes are diligently and responsibly preparing for the festive evening – rehearsals have been underway for six months. Each waltz composition has its own title. The lyceum students intend to dance "The Secret of a Winter Night," "Melody of Love," "The Line of Life," "Moments of Eternity," and so on. "While performing the dance, the young men and women strive to vividly and colourfully realise the idea, convey the plot, and communicate their emotions to the audience," added Oksana Areshkova.
