June 14, Vitebsk / Alena Tikhonova - BELTA/. Representatives of secular authorities and clergy from 11 regions of the Vitebsk region will gather today in Polotsk for a joint meeting of the organizing committee on the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Polotsk Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.

The meeting of the organizing committee will be held in the spiritual and educational center of the Polotsk St. Euphrosyne Monastery under the chairmanship of Archbishop Feodosiy of Polotsk and Glubokoye, with the participation of deputy chairmen of the Polotsk, Braslav, Verkhnedvinsk, Glubokoye, Dokshitsy, Miory, Postavy, Rossony, Ushachi, Sharkovshchina, and Novopolotsk executive committees.

The organizing committee will discuss regional programs for the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus'. In particular, the topics and dates for round tables, meetings, conferences, exhibitions, and other events.

The Polotsk Diocese is one of the oldest in Belarus, and the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus' is being celebrated here with particular grandeur. On the eve, a hall of Orthodox literature was opened in the Yanka Kupala Library in Polotsk, and on June 18, about 60 clergy of the Polotsk Diocese will serve the Divine Liturgy in the Epiphany Cathedral. After the liturgy, clergy, believers, residents, and guests of Polotsk will proceed in a religious procession from the Epiphany Church to the St. Sophia Cathedral. A prayer service will be held at the walls of the ancient St. Sophia Cathedral, followed by a concert in the concert hall of the St. Sophia Cathedral.-0-
