4 September, Vilnius /Elena Yurkiavichene - BELTA/. Lithuania has decided to waive the consular fee for national visas for citizens of Belarus, BELTA correspondent reports. The Lithuanian government has adopted a resolution to cancel the consular fee for national visas, which currently stands at 60 euros. In order to abolish the consular fee, the Lithuanian parliament passed amendments to the law on consular fees, which provide for the government's ability to reduce the consular fee for visas or not to charge it at all on a reciprocal basis or in cases where it is required for foreign policy or national security purposes. The consular fee will not be charged for long-term national visas of category D, which are issued to persons intending to stay in the country for more than three months within a six-month period. With such a visa, it is also possible to visit other Schengen area countries for a limited time. Free visas will be issued to students, athletes, journalists, as well as other legally employed persons, but will not be issued to those who require a visa for tourism or other short-term purposes. For these purposes, a Schengen visa is required, the cost of which is set by the EU at 60 euros.-0-
