The educational process at the "Zhemchuzhina" children's rehabilitation and health resort centre has its own specific features. This is due to the temporary stay of children at this institution. We want them to feel no discomfort from changing their location, new realities, and an unfamiliar daily routine during their health improvement period. Therefore, "Zhemchuzhina" operates under the concept of continuous education for children and youth. Each shift here has its own thematic focus.
The last shift, naturally, was dedicated to the military-patriotic theme and was called "Victorious May Marches Across the Planet". Middle school students competed in sports and tourism events – overcoming an obstacle course, acquiring basic knowledge necessary for a tourist, etc. For high school students, the military-sports game "Zarnitsa" was held. A competition of patriotic songs "Glory to Victory Day!" also took place. Following a good tradition, a meeting with servicemen of military unit No. 23313, commanded by Sergey Koktysh, is held annually during this period. Pupils from "Zhemchuzhina" together with servicemen organised the sports and entertainment competition "Well, Boys!" and a joint "Open Tribune" was held. The children listened to the speech of the unit commander, an excursion to the unit was organised for them – they were shown military equipment, and acquainted with the living and daily conditions of the servicemen. The "Brain Ring" "No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten", the youth programme "Torch of Hope", laying wreaths and tidying up the monument in the village of Susha, which "Zhemchuzhina" patronises – all these are links in the same "chain" – a patriotic shift dedicated to Victory Day.
Work at "Zhemchuzhina" also covers other areas. Children are offered excursions along a number of routes – to Polotsk, visiting the architectural shrines and famous historical sites of the city, to Vitebsk – with the aim that this city, where the "Slavianski Bazaar" has been held for many years, is a unique cultural capital of the country, to Minsk and Khatyn, to Ushachi and the "Proryv" memorial complex, visiting the Ushachi Museum of Military Glory. And, finally, excursions around Lepel region – to the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, to the district local history museum. By the way, as an encouragement, the rehabilitation centre organises a free excursion for the children's active members to the famous places of our city.
The library actively joined the ecological week. It included the educational programme "Earth is Our Common Home", the game "Capitals of the World", and other events.
