After long and extensive searches in the surrounding areas, the employees of LKUVP ZhKG "Lepel" found the tree in a forest tract located right between the agro-town of Kamen and the village of Dvor Babcha. However, finding it was only half the battle. The tree was felled by master Ivan Cheklin, but there were certain problems with its transportation to the town. This required the involvement of not only an Amkodor front loader and a MAZ truck, but also a powerful MTZ-1221 tractor. The issue was that due to heavy rains and the absence of frost during these pre-New Year December days, the machinery got bogged down when moving off-road.
In addition, no less work was required to install the forest beauty at its destination. A cherry picker and a mobile crane had to be used for this purpose. The drivers of these vehicles, Alexander Sudak and Nikolai Chechotkin, worked in coordination, while two employees of the public utilities, Sergei Bulovich and Oleg Golub, carried out the necessary work to decorate the forest beauty.
Engineer Vladimir Rusak, along with fitter Oleg Nosik, connected 10 rays of festive illumination, which spread in different directions across Svaboda Square, to the power supply. They also installed 20 multi-coloured garlands intended for use directly on the tree. The entire operation was directed by Valentina Valevich, an engineer of garden and park management.
And finally, the tree lit up with all the colours of the rainbow, delighting the residents of Lepel.
