Attackers have found a way to trick Apple device owners into parting with their money. Under the guise of installing games via a "third-party" Apple ID, users are prompted to enter their login and password. After this, the scammers activate the "Find My iPhone" feature and put the device into "Lost Mode".
The phone is completely blocked, and the owner receives a message demanding money for unlocking. Threats are often accompanied by promises to delete data or disseminate personal information.
How to protect yourself:
-
Never enter someone else's Apple ID on your device.
-
Download applications only from the official App Store.
-
Set up two-factor authentication and regularly check your iCloud access.
Remember: logging into someone else's account gives attackers full control over your device. Be vigilant and do not fall for their tricks.
