The Vitebsk City Executive Committee, the public association "Association of Employers and Entrepreneurs" of the Vitebsk region, and one of the city's online job resources have become founders of the city award "Best Employer of Vitebsk 2012".
According to the founders, the main goal of the project is to promote the development of civilized labor relations, improve the image of employers in the regional center, and contribute to increasing the social responsibility of business.
Organizations of any form of ownership operating in Vitebsk for at least three years can participate in the competition. Depending on the size of the workforce, 4 nominations have been established: from micro-organizations with no more than 15 employees to large enterprises with over 250 employees. Applications for participation will be accepted until the end of November this year. Participants in the competition can only be organizations that have had no cases of industrial injuries during January-September, and also have no arrears in salary payments, budget payments, and payments to the Social Protection Fund of the Population. The evaluation criteria will include the salary level, staff turnover rates, costs for professional training and skill development of employees, and the availability and variety of the social package. Employers can earn additional points for an active advertising campaign and even for organizing leisure activities for their employees.
The activities of employers will be evaluated by an expert jury, which will include representatives of city authorities, trade unions, and public associations of entrepreneurs. Winners will be recognized as participants who take 1st place in each nomination, depending on the points received. Laureates will be participants who take second and third places in their nominations. Winners and laureates will be awarded commemorative signs and diplomas. They will also receive the right to display the "Best Employer of Vitebsk 2012" badge on their corporate websites, advertising, and informational materials.
According to the Department of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, as of October 1, there were 2314 vacancies for 1059 unemployed individuals in the regional centre, with approximately 80% of these being for blue-collar jobs. City enterprises are experiencing an acute shortage of seamstresses, workers of all construction trades, cooks, and sales assistants. -0-
