The best youth initiatives of the CIS countries are planned to be presented in Belarus in the second quarter of 2016, the information and analytical department of the CIS Executive Committee informed BELTA.

Currently, the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2020 is being implemented. "The Strategy proceeds from the fact that youth cooperation is a crucial factor in ensuring sustainable, effective socio-economic development and scientific and technical progress of the Commonwealth as a whole, preserving and deepening friendly relations between countries, and enhancing their competitiveness in the context of globalisation, as one of the most promising forms of integration partnership," the department noted.

The Strategy provides for the development and approval of special action plans. Such plans were adopted for 2012-2013 and 2014-2015. At the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth, held in October 2015 in Dushanbe, an Action Plan for 2016-2017 was also approved. It was developed based on proposals from the Commonwealth states, the Council for Youth Affairs, as well as sectoral cooperation bodies in the humanitarian sphere, the CIS Intergovernmental Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly, and other public associations. The Plan includes 16 sections and covers over 80 events.

The document is formed on the principles of continuity with the previous Plan: traditions of holding landmark youth events within the CIS are preserved and developed. These include the Youth Delphic Games, the international youth forum of CIS member states "Friendship Without Borders", the Forum of Youth Organisations, the International Forum of Young Compatriots, and many others. "Particular attention should be paid to the international youth project of the CIS member states '100 Ideas for the CIS', initiated by the Council for Youth Affairs of the Commonwealth countries with the support of the CIS Executive Committee. The project is conceived as a unique channel for bringing promising youth initiatives to the level of the entire Commonwealth and is based on similar work already carried out by various programmes and funds in the CIS states," the information and analytical department explained.

Currently, republican youth projects such as "There is an Idea" in Azerbaijan, "100 Ideas for Belarus", "1000 Ideas" in Russia, and others are being implemented. "It is expected that the final event of the project in the format of an exhibition-presentation of the best youth initiatives will take place in the second quarter of 2016 in Belarus. Apparently, a similar exhibition will also be presented at the interstate exhibition '25 Years of the CIS: New Opportunities for Integration and Partnership', dedicated to the anniversary of the Commonwealth (planned for June 2016)," the department reported.

Along with traditional events, a number of new projects are included in the Plan. Thus, it is planned to hold the international conference "The Role of Non-Formal Education in Youth Development", the Festival of Student Theatres, the International Youth Educational Forum "Territory of Meanings", the Festival of Youth and Students "Eurasia is Us!".

On the initiative of the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Assembly, it is also planned to hold the CIS Youth Interparliamentary Forum, develop proposals for improving the model regulatory framework of the CIS, convergence and harmonization of national legislation in the field of youth policy, and ensuring the rights and interests of youth.
