The exhibition "Masters of the Lake District" opens today in Vitebsk, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Vitebsk Regional Methodical Centre of Folk Art.

Residents and guests of the regional centre will be able to see the works of folk art craft masters and amateur artists from folk clubs of the Verkhnedvinsk, Glubokskoye, Postavy and Miory districts of the Vitebsk region. The range of exhibits included in the exposition is diverse: ceramics, decorative panels, embroidery, tapestries, painting on glass and wood, knitting, wood carving, souvenir dolls, and much more.

Each club presents about 140 of their best works from the last three years, which are displayed in separate zones of the exhibition hall. When familiarising themselves with the exhibits, the centre's staff recommended paying special attention to the items made using the techniques of those crafts for which the masters of a particular region are particularly famous. For example, Glubokskoye masters are known for their carpets, Postavy masters for souvenir dolls and rushnyks, Miory masters for birch bark products, and Verkhnedvinsk artisans for products made of straw and willow.

The exhibition will be open until February 28.
