The programme for the sixth "Puppet Quarter", which will take place during the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" arts festival from July 10 to 16 on the stage of the Belarusian Theatre "Lyalka", has been announced, BELTA was informed by the festival directorate.
This summer, two troupes will come to the "Slavianski Bazaar" from Saint Petersburg and will present the philosophical parable "Thumbelina" and the entertaining and educational performance for children and adults "We've Come to Visit You for an Hour, or Is It Easy to Be an Artist". As last year, Gogol's motifs will be heard: puppet artists from Perm will show the audience the theatrical fantasy "The Night Before Christmas". The Kyiv Municipal Academic Puppet Theatre will bring the musical fairy tale "The Bunny's Little Hut". The Vitebsk Theatre "Lyalka" will traditionally delight with the production "The Bremen Town Musicians", which traditionally opens the "Puppet Quarter", the improvisation "A Tale About a Tale", as well as a new premiere for adults about Marc Chagall, "The Artist. Return to Vitebsk". In total, 9 troupes from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine will present their best productions.
Last year, the "Puppet Quarter" celebrated its fifth anniversary. The project has become one of the brands of festival Vitebsk, with performances playing to sold-out houses. In 2018, over 1,600 spectators attended the "Puppet Quarter" performances, with tickets for some productions being sold out before the start of the "Slavianski Bazaar".
