The final of the third national competition "Family of the Year" will be held at the Belarusian Republican Youth Theatre. The competition aims to strengthen the institution of the family, enhance the role and prestige of the family in society as a key factor of state demographic policy. Among its main objectives are the preservation of the spiritual and moral values of the family; the promotion of responsible parenthood in society; the education and upbringing of children and youth within the system of traditional family values focused on stable relationships, raising children, a healthy lifestyle, generational continuity, mutual understanding and support.
7 families – winners of the Minsk city and regional competitions – will compete for victory. These are the Khvesyuk family from Mikashevichi, Luninets district, Brest region; the Kravchuk family from Vitebsk; the Petrushko family from Kalinkovichi, Gomel region; the Sidor family from the agro-town of Lunno, Mosty district, Grodno region; the Evtukh family from Nesvizh, Minsk region; the Sokol family from Glusk, Mogilev region; and the Voytekh family from Minsk.
As reported, the competition is held among complete families raising two or more children. Families present their visiting card ("Rodovod") – the history of their lineage, family customs and traditions. They also present the active life position of family members, hobbies, successes and achievements (project "My Country – My Family"). Families that score the highest total number of points based on the results of the competition events are recognised as winners. They are awarded diplomas of I, II and III degrees. The family receiving the I degree diploma is awarded the honorary title "Family of the Year".
Cash prizes are established for the winners of the competition final: for those awarded a diploma of I degree – up to 100 base units; a diploma of II degree – up to 75 base units; a diploma of III degree – up to 50 base units (currently, 1 base unit is Br23). Competition participants may be awarded special diplomas, prizes or other awards.
The first national competition "Family of the Year" was held in 2012.
