President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will deliver his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament on March 31, the Head of the Presidential Administration Igor Sergeenko told reporters, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"I would like to note that the issues of state and society development are constantly in the focus of the Head of State. Look at the President's busy schedule. Very recently, a series of events with the President's participation took place. These included a meeting of the Council of Ministers, a meeting of the Security Council, a meeting with the country's security bloc, visits to industrial enterprises, and trips abroad where meetings were held with leaders and representatives of friendly countries. During these events, serious state tasks were, of course, addressed in various areas: both current activities and future plans. Just yesterday, when appointing heads of local executive authorities, the President outlined a whole range of problems and, at the same time, tasks that concern not only the appointed leaders but all current leaders of the power vertical," Igor Sergeenko said.
The President noted that the year would be special. "It will be special, including in terms of preparation for the most important political events - the electoral campaign. In 2024, we will simultaneously hold elections to the parliament and local Councils of Deputies. And for the first time, in fact, in a new format, elections of delegates to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. All these processes will take place almost simultaneously. This is a large, of course, volume of organizational and preparatory work. These are quite serious and large-scale events. But ahead of us awaits another landmark, fundamental event - the annual Address of the President to the Belarusian people and parliament. It will take place literally this week - on March 31, this Friday," said the Head of the Presidential Administration. "I would like to emphasize once again that this is a landmark, fundamental event, where the President, in his speech, defines the immediate development strategy of our country in the context of a dynamically changing geopolitical situation. But it is also, first and foremost, an answer to the issues that concern our citizens. It is an analysis of the situation that is developing here and now, as well as for the future. For high-quality preparation of the package of documents, on the instructions of the President, various state and public structures, and the scientific community were involved by the Administration. The study of development trends in the regions and public opinion has been organized. These materials allow the Head of State to further analyze the situation in the country and comprehensively define the Address, the thoughts that the President will embed in the text. I would like to note that the President continues to work on the Address. The situation is changing dynamically, almost daily, and this document requires updating."
It is planned that the event will be held in the format traditional for recent years - in a solemn atmosphere at the Palace of the Republic. "It will be attended by deputies of the House of Representatives, members of the Council of the Republic, heads of ministries, state committees, local authorities, representatives of labor collectives, industrial enterprises, agriculture, science, education, healthcare, mass media, the diplomatic corps accredited in Minsk, delegations from all regions and the city of Minsk. It is planned that more than 2.5 thousand people will take part in the event," emphasized Igor Sergeenko.
"We understand that the Address is primarily a message to the Belarusian people, but, naturally, the audience will be significantly wider. This is another opportunity for the Head of State to convey the state position of our country to the peoples of those countries with which communication, due to certain circumstances and the exacerbation of the international situation, a certain geopolitical confrontation, has been somewhat lost. I am confident that the speech of the Head of State will be vivid, interesting, sharp, and relevant," said the Head of the Presidential Administration.
