The Head of State noted that throughout its long history, UNESCO has worthily fulfilled its honorable humanitarian mission of strengthening peace and security, ensuring justice, and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, regardless of nationality or religion.
"In today's circumstances of a sharp deficit of trust and solidarity, UNESCO's unifying and creative activities are particularly necessary for all of humanity. The Organization must play a more active and constructive role in maintaining intercultural dialogue, increasing access to education, and implementing the principle of peaceful resolution of existing disputes and conflicts," the congratulatory message reads.
The President emphasized that Belarus, as a founding country of the UN and a responsible member of the world community, is ready to do everything necessary to strengthen the authority and enhance the significance of the organization in matters of education, science, and culture in order to overcome the problems and challenges of our time.
Alexander Lukashenko wished Audrey Azoulay good health and successful management of the activities of the influential international organization.
