The Head of State noted that he would like to discuss further prospects for Belarusian-Pakistani cooperation. The President recalled that he had visited Pakistan twice and that Belarus had established good relations with both the previous and the current governments.
"Despite the current situation in Pakistan, I am absolutely convinced that the Pakistani leadership and elite have enough wisdom to preserve this giant nuclear power during this very difficult period," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko. "We have a basis for our cooperation. As I am informed, our joint venture for the production of machinery has begun operating in Punjab. We are ready to move forward. I am sure that you are well aware of our capabilities and how we can be useful to Pakistan. If you are interested in our economy and capabilities, the doors of any enterprise, any institution are open to you."
The Ambassador of Pakistan, in turn, stated that his country views Belarus as a friend and ally in the region. He noted that over 80 bilateral agreements have been signed between the countries in recent years, with another ten documents under consideration.
"Belarus has extensive experience in agriculture and industry. These are key areas of interest for Pakistan, including in terms of establishing joint ventures on our territory," noted Sajjad Haider Khan during his conversation with journalists after the meeting with the Head of State. "Nine special economic zones are planned for construction in Pakistan, four of which are in a high state of readiness. These zones will be located within the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and may also be of interest for joint projects with the Belarusian side."
