President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, congratulated the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister of this country Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, and the Pakistani people on their national holiday – Independence Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"For many years, our countries have been developing cooperation based on partnership and trust. This year, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and held a number of bilateral events, which, I am confident, will contribute to the flourishing of Belarus and Pakistan," the congratulatory message to Asif Ali Zardari reads.
In his congratulatory message to Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the President of Belarus thanked him for supporting Belarus's accession to the SCO and confirmed his readiness for further fruitful work on international platforms.
"I am confident that the organisation of joint events, determined during our conversation in Astana, will allow us to begin a new stage in the development of bilateral relations," the Head of State emphasised.
Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope for meetings with the leaders of Pakistan during his visit to Islamabad and for discussions on steps to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states.
The President of Belarus wished the leaders of this country good health and success, and Pakistan – well-being, peace, and progress.
