President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire Alassane Dramane Ouattara on the national holiday – Independence Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Head of State.

This holiday is a tribute to all those who fought against forced labour and colonial oppression for the sake of the country's independence, the Belarusian leader noted. He stressed a particular interest in developing bilateral relations based on the principles of friendship, respect, and trust.

The Head of State expressed confidence that the economies of both countries are complementary. Belarus, as one of the world's largest producers of agricultural machinery, can contribute to ensuring the food security of Côte d'Ivoire through the supply of equipment, technologies, and fertilisers for the needs of the country's leading economic sector – agriculture. The President noted readiness to discuss further cooperation in other areas, including the import of cocoa, fruits, and nuts into Belarus.

"I am convinced that through joint efforts, we will be able to establish fruitful bilateral interaction for the benefit of our peoples," the Belarusian leader emphasised.

Alexander Lukashenko wished Alassane Dramane Ouattara, his loved ones, and all citizens of that country good health and happiness. "May Côte d'Ivoire grow stronger and prosper," the President added.
