"I am glad to see you cheerful and vigorous. This means that not everything in our world is so bad. There are places that are quiet and peaceful. I am referring to our friendly Vietnam as well. The people of Vietnam deserve this peace and the favourable development growth of Vietnam," stated Alexander Lukashenko.

The President noted that Vietnam went through very difficult times in the last century. "Whenever Vietnam is mentioned, I recall the struggle of the Vietnamese people against those who wanted to destroy Vietnam and settle in this paradise corner, a strategic region of Southeast Asia. We were together then. We fought together, we helped Vietnam," the head of state recalled. "And this is our foundation, this is our historical memory in the relations between the two states. I want to assure you that we will always cherish these shared times of struggle, which brought peace to the Vietnamese people and, currently, prosperity and well-being to your country."

"We will always do everything to ensure that Vietnam develops. This is not only because we love the Vietnamese people. It is true: we have affection for your people. But it is also because, from an economic point of view, it is profitable. This pragmatism is characteristic of both our people and the Vietnamese people. This cooperation has always brought and will continue to bring benefits," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko. "We are determined to develop our cooperation in the economic sphere. This is the foundation of our relations."

Belarus and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on January 24, 1992. This year marks the 30th anniversary of these relations.

Belarus and Vietnam are constantly developing political dialogue. An exchange of visits at the highest and high levels has been established between the states. Cooperation within international organisations is developing successfully.

In 2021, trade turnover between Belarus and Vietnam exceeded $200 million. Belarus exported potash fertilizers, livestock products, instrument-making products, medicines, and cosmetics. Vietnam supplied rubber, nuts, fish fillets, integrated circuits, propylene polymers, and canned goods.
