"We have agreed with Russia that we will probably keep the S-400s we have. From Minsk, it will be able to see as far as Berlin. This is a weapon designed for large armies and territories, like Russia's, for example. And we (the Belarusian Armed Forces directly. - BELTA's note) may not need to see what's in Berlin. Besides, the S-300s we are equipped with are quite good modern weapons, practically like the S-400s. But the S-400 is good equipment. We saw it in this operation. Very good. We agreed with the Minister of Defence that he would simply prepare several groups of guys tomorrow who would be proficient in this equipment," said the head of state.
Alexander Lukashenko also announced plans to acquire Iskander missile systems from Russia: "This is a very necessary weapon for us. We have it today. And again, I have agreed with the Russians that we are buying Iskanders from them. They will not be withdrawn from Belarus. They can be used to defend our territory."
According to the President, the armament that the Belarusian army already possesses at the moment allows it to ensure its defence capability. "I think this is good armament for the army. It means that our army will be able to fight and inflict unacceptable damage on the enemy, just as we planned. We are realists, we understand that we cannot defeat NATO. But to inflict damage, especially on those territories from which we will be attacked, we have all this weaponry. This weaponry covers the entire territory of Poland and up to the Baltic Sea. Not to mention the Baltic states. And practically Ukraine up to Kyiv. God forbid, I am not hinting at anything, but so that you understand the firing range of the weapons we have."
