"It is important that today Belarusian border guards are effectively guarding not only the national interests of their country, but also regional and international security," said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The Head of State drew attention to the fact that, being on key transit routes connecting North and South, Europe and Asia, Belarus is a reliable partner for many states in preventing and suppressing cross-border crime, illegal business, and other negative processes.
"Our servicemen have managed to significantly reduce the influx of illegal migrants into the European Union states. Persons on the international wanted list are systematically identified at the border. Channels of drug trafficking are regularly uncovered in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies," the President noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that the world remains alarming and unpredictable today, with military confrontation occurring on almost all continents. The use of force is escalating, including directly at the borders of Belarus.
"Moreover, you, better than anyone, know that armed clashes begin precisely at the border. The difficult international situation and the danger of terrorist acts necessitate maintaining a high level of combat readiness of border agencies on a continuous basis," said the Head of State.
To enhance combat capability and mobility, border troops are being equipped with the latest models of equipment and weaponry. Border lines are being fortified, modern outpost complexes are being built, and living conditions for personnel are being improved.
"You are the bearers of glorious combat traditions, and you must always remember this. You do not need to be told to keep your powder dry. You keep it dry every day, every hour, around the clock. It is the border troops who are among the few, and perhaps the only ones, who are constantly on full combat readiness. This readiness must be maintained at the proper level and your skills must be comprehensively improved," the Belarusian leader emphasized.
The President noted that today, as a hundred years ago, it is impossible to ensure reliable security at the border without the support of the local population. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly improve interaction with the residents of the border areas.
"We have normal people who are always ready to help," Alexander Lukashenko is convinced.
