President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, congratulated the people of the Federal Republic of Germany on German Unity Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"The fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany represented a true change of eras and a hope for lasting peace and security in Europe," the congratulatory message reads. "You know how much suffering, grief, and pain such a wall can bring, which for decades became a tragic symbol of the division of a city, a people, an entire continent. To our great regret, today we are again returning to times of confrontation, when walls are being built between countries in the heart of Europe."
The Head of State emphasized that Belarusians and Germans must together make their feasible contribution to avoid destructive confrontation and prevent a new catastrophe.
"Minsk is open for equal dialogue and pragmatic cooperation with Berlin, as well as for the further development of bilateral relations, which turned 30 this year," the Belarusian leader noted.
Alexander Lukashenko wished the people of Germany a peaceful sky, solidarity, and a worthy future for their descendants.
