President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko gave an interview today to Igor Korotchenko, Editor-in-Chief of the Russian magazine "National Defense" and military expert, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The conversation lasted for almost two and a half hours. They discussed the outcomes of the recent meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, and the main content and directions of integration development between Belarus and Russia.

A pressing and currently relevant topic is the migration crisis. Alexander Lukashenko elaborated on his position regarding who is to blame for the current situation and why. The discussion also covered the overall situation in the region and the world, including tensions on the western borders, the situation in Ukraine, and the growing geopolitical confrontation.

Another block of questions concerned Belarus's domestic agenda, including an analysis of last year's events, work on constitutional amendments, and preparations for the upcoming referendum, as well as the epidemiological situation and healthcare issues. Given the magazine's thematic focus, the development of Belarus's military-industrial complex and cooperation with Russia in this regard were also discussed.

Alexander Lukashenko also answered a number of personal questions, including how he prefers to spend his leisure time and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This year, Igor Korotchenko participated in the meeting between the head of the Belarusian state and representatives of the media community, "Big Conversation with the President," where he requested an interview with Alexander Lukashenko. The Belarusian leader agreed and kept his word. Recently, Igor Korotchenko has also been actively commenting in the media as an expert on current issues, including the Belarusian agenda.

"National Defense" magazine has been published since 2006 and is available in electronic and print versions (monthly circulation of 22.5 thousand copies). The subject matter of this mass media covers a wide range of issues related to ensuring Russia's national security. The target audience includes the military-political leadership of Russia, employees of law enforcement ministries and departments, special services, the military diplomatic corps, as well as heads of enterprises and organizations of the military-industrial complex, banking, insurance, and financial structures serving the MIC and military-technical cooperation.

Since 2008, an English-language version of the magazine has been published, which is distributed as an official publication of the Russian exposition at foreign arms exhibitions.
