President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Latvia on the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Head of State.
The Belarusian leader recalled that on this day in 1918, Latvia gained the status of an independent state. "Over 100 years later, despite complex historical and political conditions, the Latvian people have preserved their identity and focus on their own path of development," the congratulation reads.
The Head of State noted that Latvia, like the whole world, is currently going through difficult times due to the pandemic. "Belarus respects the independence and state sovereignty of all countries, respects their national symbols and their aspiration to live in peace and harmony," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
The President expressed confidence that the long-standing friendship, good-neighborly relations and the development of centuries-old dialogue between the peoples of the two countries will remain an immutable basis for deepening fruitful cooperation.
"On this special day, I wish all Latvians peace, mutual understanding and well-being. I take this opportunity to send words of sincere support to our Latvian neighbors, who bravely overcome all difficulties every day, working for their future," the Belarusian leader noted.
