The main event of 2017 in Belarus was overcoming negative economic trends. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during his visit to the Holy Spirit Cathedral, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"We have lived through a very difficult year. I will not go into detail, I have already said a lot both at the end of the year and in my New Year's address. But the main general event of this year is that we, as we dreamed a year ago (I, including, standing here, spoke about it), managed to overcome negative trends in our economy, and this immediately affected our entire society," said the Belarusian leader.
"Our life is not wonderful, I understand this, it is tolerable. This year we must take a step forward, rise one step higher, so that this life is not just tolerable, but normal. The peculiarity of the current moment is that we have everything for this. And we must definitely, together with you, take this step, rise to this little step. And then in a year we will have something to talk about, and we will have a completely different mood," said Alexander Lukashenko.
The Head of State assured that he would try to do everything possible to ensure that people live well on Belarusian land and that guests of the country feel that Belarusians are strong people who live well and are ready to welcome any guest with gratitude.
"We live with hopes for the future, and I am confident that these hopes will come true in the coming year," the President concluded.
