October 7, Minsk /BELTA/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with President of Russia Vladimir Putin today. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The head of the Belarusian state congratulated his Russian counterpart on his birthday, after which the leaders of the two countries discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and the international agenda. In particular, the Presidents discussed in detail the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and Kyrgyzstan. Regarding the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, as was noted, Belarus and Russia are united in advocating for its swift peaceful resolution, as people continue to die in the region.
"The main issue of discussion on the bilateral agenda was the full opening of borders between Belarus and Russia. The heads of state agreed to instruct the governments to work out these issues, having analyzed the situation," the press service noted.
Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin paid great attention to the problem of the spread of coronavirus infection, expressing concern about the increase in the incidence rate.
The presidents also briefly touched upon the internal situation in Belarus and Russia against the backdrop of the global crisis, and also discussed some other aspects of the international situation.
"Discussing issues of bilateral cooperation, the leaders once again positively noted the role of interregional contacts and the interaction of enterprises that are in cooperative ties. In this regard, areas of cooperation between universities, research institutions, and academic schools were noted as promising," the press service of the President of Belarus added.-0-
