The President stressed that the Old New Year crowns the series of Christmas and New Year holidays. "I will not hide that my cherished wish is for the coming year to be a breakthrough year and to open a new stage of the country's development, so that we overcome the negative consequences of the global crisis and significantly improve people's living standards," Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. "I believe not in miracles, but in our strengths and capabilities. We can do it if we all work together with full dedication and see the goal ahead of us, overcoming difficulties and challenges, we will move forward. And under no circumstances should we stop."
The Head of State recalled a parable from the Gospel: "The Apostle Peter walked on the raging sea as if on dry land with firm faith. But as soon as he doubted, he began to sink. When Christ saved him, he said to him: 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'" Therefore, as Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized, it is necessary to move towards the goal without doubt, but not recklessly. "It is the same in our lives. We have chosen our course, we must follow it, without succumbing to any doubts and fears. Then our ship will not be afraid of any storm. Boldness and perseverance take cities - this is the motto that our generation of victors has left us as a legacy," the Head of State noted.
The President stressed that God has endowed us with the right to live on a beautiful land, and on a good land, there is good hope, as folk wisdom says. "So let all good hopes come true, so that our Belarus always remains a blooming, blessed land, which the Belarusian writer Vladimir Korotkevich called 'The Land Under White Wings' for its beauty and sanctity. May mutual understanding, well-being, and love reign in our homes. And may there be peace and prosperity in our native land," Aleksandr Lukashenko wished.
