Lukashenko: every little Belarusian knows in practice that they are infinitely dear and needed by their country

Every young Belarusian knows, not in words but in deeds, that they are infinitely dear and needed by their country. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, today during his speech at the charity festival as part of the "Our Children" campaign, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"I am very glad to see you today – beautiful, smartly dressed, and most importantly, smiling – at our country's main Christmas tree, in the main hall of our state, at the Palace of the Republic. We have been holding our Christmas tree event for over a quarter of a century. And even the youngest viewers of the first New Year's performances may have already become parents themselves. And someone, perhaps, has brought their own child here," - noted Alexander Lukashenko.

The President emphasized that the "Our Children" charity campaign, which has become a wonderful tradition, is alive and connects two generations of Belarusians. "Belarusians who grow up and mature on kind and beautiful stories told on this stage by our beloved artists," - noted the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko admitted that for him, as President, attending this festival is also a gift of sorts. "It is an opportunity to momentarily step away from political affairs, sometimes not very pleasant ones, and immerse myself with you in the world of childhood – a world where there is fairy tales, where there is room for dreams, and most importantly, for miracles," - he stated. - "I am happy that over the years of the 'Our Children' charity project, every young Belarusian knows, not in words but in deeds, that they are infinitely dear and needed by their native country."

The head of state thanked everyone who today makes children's lives happy and carefree: teachers and educators who help them acquire important knowledge; doctors who care for children's health every day; builders who construct schools, kindergartens, sports palaces, playgrounds, and parks for recreation; everyone who produces beautiful children's clothing, toys, favorite sweets, and healthy foods, and prepares breakfasts and lunches in schools and kindergartens.

"First of all, I want to thank our police officers and military personnel, the people in uniform, who protect peace in our land and give us the opportunity to be happy day after day and to gather in such a company in this beautiful hall on New Year's Eve. I thank the organizers of New Year's children's events, who strive to bring to life all your pre-New Year's expectations and dreams. In these pre-New Year's days, there is not a single child in the country who is not surrounded by our warm care and attention," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.

"Our dear children, always know and remember: everything we do on New Year's Eve and after that on ordinary working days, we do with love and faith in you," said the President.

The Head of State wished the children a great mood, good health, and joy from the festive performance.

As reported, the "Our Children" charity event is taking place in Belarus from December 14 to January 14. During these days, top officials of the country, heads of republican government bodies and state organizations, concerns, banks, and public associations visit children's boarding schools, hospitals, large families, and family-type children's homes.

The main event of the campaign, as a tradition, is the main New Year tree of the country – a charity New Year's celebration with the participation of the President and a New Year's performance. This year's holiday program includes a colourful fairy-tale musical and stage show "Magical Power" performed by the best creative groups of the country, a cultural program, and gifts from the Head of State.

More than 2.3 thousand children aged 8-14 have been invited to the Palace of the Republic. These are orphans and children left without parental care, pupils of boarding schools, children with disabilities, children from large and low-income families, pupils of cadet schools, children from military families, children affected by the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, and students who have achieved high results in their studies, sports, creative activities, and public work.
