China can always count on Belarus at the right moment. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated this on September 22 at a meeting with Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Dear Comrade Li Xi, I don't need to talk about our policy towards the PRC. I have already said a lot about it. Our position remains unchanged. You can always count on us at the right moment for China. You should know that here, in the center of Europe, you have the most reliable and good friends," emphasized the Belarusian leader.
Alexander Lukashenko stated that he views Li Xi's visit as a continuation of the extensive work to intensify cooperation that the leaders of the two countries are undertaking. "We have intensified our efforts together with Xi Jinping this year, considering that I have already visited the People's Republic of China twice this year," he noted.
The President separately mentioned the new Chinese initiative on global governance, which PRC Chairman Xi Jinping put forward at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit held in Tianjin. "Unlike other major powers, unlike their leaders, the People's Republic of China, in the person of PRC Chairman Xi Jinping, has put forward a number of very useful initiatives for the balance and development of the planet as a whole in recent years. And most recently, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, Xi Jinping put forward a very correct and timely initiative on global governance," said the Belarusian leader. "We are pleased to support this initiative because it fully aligns with the policy we are pursuing. This global initiative is based on justice and equality. It is a timely initiative, which is why I was the first to support it immediately at the SCO meeting."
The President noted that he is well acquainted with China's state political system and how such important decisions are made, including those regarding initiatives. "I know that you and your colleagues were directly involved in the development of such an initiative. You have taken a wonderful and timely step that was liked by everyone present at the meeting. As we used to say, this idea is increasingly capturing the minds of the world," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
