President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated his compatriots, soldiers and veterans of the Armed Forces on Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"This holiday is inextricably linked with the struggle of Belarusians for sovereignty and independence, for the right to live freely on their native land," the congratulation reads. "The best qualities of our people – courage, resilience, and heroism – were most vividly manifested during the Great Patriotic War, when everyone, young and old, rose to defend the Motherland. We carefully cherish the memory of this feat, and in the year of the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders, we extend special words of gratitude to our dear veterans."
The Head of State emphasized that Belarus is proud of the defenders of the Fatherland of all generations, who have always honorably fulfilled their military duty. "This was the case in distant Afghanistan, and in other hotspots of the planet," the President noted.
Alexander Lukashenko expressed confidence that the Armed Forces possess everything necessary to repel any aggressor, to defend peace and harmony on Belarusian land, and that the system of territorial defense and people's militia created in the country gives the cause of defending the Fatherland a truly nationwide character.
The President wished everyone health, happiness, well-being, and success in serving the Fatherland.
