Belarus maintains a strong interest in direct contacts with Russian regions. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the Governor of the Arkhangelsk region of Russia, Igor Orlov, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"We maintain a very strong interest in direct contacts with Russian regions," said the head of state.

The mutual trade turnover between Belarus and the Arkhangelsk region in 2019 amounted to $45.8 million, of which $22.9 million was the export of domestic goods to the Russian region and the same amount was imports. Belarus supplied mainly beef and poultry, products made of concrete, cement and artificial stone, sugar, automobiles, spare parts for them, and other goods. The Arkhangelsk region primarily supplied paper, cardboard, ferrous metal scrap, wood pulp, and wool.
