The CSTO member states do not need war; they are interested in peace. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the plenary session of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO in Yerevan, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The head of state noted that resolving crisis situations and preventing further destabilisation in the CSTO responsibility zone should remain a priority.
According to the President, the January events in Kazakhstan, the conflict in Ukraine, and the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz-Tajik borders clearly confirm the vital importance of this statement. "We all need peace! And as we all absolutely unanimously stated, no one needs war!" declared the Belarusian leader.
Alexander Lukashenko assured that the Belarusian presidency would undertake all possible diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, reducing conflict potential, and increasing the level of mutual trust through joint actions of CSTO members.
