President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself personally, congratulated the people of Sweden on their National Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"The diligence of the Swedes and their devotion to their land have contributed to the achievement of significant success in the socio-economic development of the country and recognition by the international community," the congratulatory message reads.
The Head of State noted that Swedes and Belarusians have jointly managed to implement a number of initiatives in various sectors, and have only competed on sports grounds.
"For several centuries, your people have voted for the peaceful neutral development of your state. I am sure that under no circumstances should some 'well-wishers' be allowed to lead our region to a new militaristic catastrophe," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. "I hope that the Swedes will soon return to the path of peaceful coexistence with all their neighbours, which corresponds to our true common interests."
