Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia, Aleksandr Rogozhnik, has been appointed as the Plenipotentiary Representative of Belarus to the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and concurrently as the Special Representative of Belarus for integration cooperation within the framework of the Union State, EAEU, CIS, and CSTO. The Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, signed the corresponding decree on July 8, as reported to BELTA by the Press Service of the President.
In accordance with the decree, Aleksandr Rogozhnik has been vested with the powers of Deputy Prime Minister concerning Belarus's activities within the Union State and relations with Russia. He will coordinate the activities of republican government bodies and other organizations subordinate to the government, representatives of Belarus in the bodies of the Union State, issue them binding instructions, and oversee their implementation.
Furthermore, Aleksandr Rogozhnik bears personal responsibility for advancing the national interests of Belarus within the Union State and in relations with Russia.
