For skillful, initiative, and courageous actions during emergency rescue and other urgent operations, employees of the Republican Special Purpose Unit "ZUBR" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have been awarded the medal "For Distinction in the Prevention and Elimination of Emergencies".
The corresponding decree No. 218 was signed by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on July 19, BELTA was informed by the press service of the Head of State.
The medal was awarded to the unit commander Igor Zarembo and his first deputy Andrey Metelsky, the detachment commander of the search and rescue and firefighting center Anatoly Ivanchikov, the duty shift chief of the operational management center Alexander Kurochkin, and the operational duty officers of the operational management center Dmitry Melnik, Evgeny Vysotsky, and Sergey Novichuk.
From February 8 to 15, employees of the "ZUBR" unit, as part of a search and rescue team, participated in emergency rescue operations to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaraş.
