President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko intends to visit promising industrial enterprises to identify areas for further development. He announced this on December 10 during a meeting with the staff of POZHSNAB LLC, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Head of State noted that throughout spring, summer, and early autumn, he traditionally pays significant attention to the agricultural sector, as it is crucial for ensuring food security. Now, according to him, it is time for industrial enterprises.
"In late autumn and winter, early spring, we will focus on industry. We will soon be looking at promising enterprises," the President explained. This is primarily necessary to identify those sectors and individual facilities where Belarus has achieved success and developed competencies that can be scaled up and developed in the near future.
Such a strategy in the economy, like developing new industries, certainly also has its place. This is particularly important for acquiring breakthrough, high-tech sectors. This was the case, for example, with the construction of the nuclear power plant. However, this involves significant financial investments and a long period of time. "It's long, it's expensive," Alexander Lukashenko pointed out. "Therefore, while creating new things and investing in some new projects, I thought: why are we struggling, we need to develop our own schools where we are good at it. We know how to build machines (MAZ, BELAZ, Belkommunmash). We used to make internal combustion engines – we started making electric vehicles, and there is high demand. We see a high demand for buses, especially in our main market – we have started producing buses in large quantities and are even building a new plant, which we will commission in January. We built it in just two years."
"That is, based on the competencies we have, on what we know how to do, we need to move forward and invest money in it. Because we have already tried to do it with our own hands," the Head of State emphasized.
One such example is the enterprise "POZHSNAB". "Of course, it is pleasant for me to look at and be proud of such an enterprise, your team. But as President, I am interested in something else, important: if there is demand in the market, will we be able to produce more. I have concluded for myself that such private enterprises should be supported. You, by producing the final product here, have connections with many state enterprises. Your machines perform a noble purpose - they save people," explained Alexander Lukashenko.
