It is high time for the peoples of Europe to understand that the Great Victory is a common asset. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, at a ceremonial meeting on the occasion of Victory Day, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. "It is high time for the peoples of Europe to understand that the Great Victory is our common asset. Thanks to it, as well as to the political, economic, and military power of the Soviet Union, peace was ensured on the Eurasian continent for many decades," noted Alexander Lukashenko.
He recalled that despite ideological disagreements and geopolitical struggles in the post-war period, world players still managed to reach agreements. "In the conditions of the Cold War, the opposing sides took real steps towards détente based on a balance of power. International organizations served as real platforms for negotiations and contributed to maintaining peace and strengthening security on the planet. But with the collapse of the USSR, the lessons of the war were forgotten," stated the President.
