President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, congratulated President of Angola João Lourenço and the citizens of that country on the 50th anniversary of independence. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
"Over the half-century of its existence, your country has gone through a difficult path of formation and development. Today, Angola is a sovereign state, one of the leaders on the African continent with strong economic potential and political authority in the world," the congratulatory message reads.
Belarusians are proud that during the USSR times, as part of a single Soviet state, they helped the glorious Angolan people in their selfless struggle for independence, the President noted.
"Minsk remains a loyal and reliable partner of Luanda and is ready to expand cooperation in the political, trade, economic, and cultural spheres, primarily through the implementation of joint projects in agriculture, mechanical engineering, mining, education, and science," the head of state emphasized. "In this regard, I consider it necessary to intensify bilateral contacts at all levels."
Alexander Lukashenko wished João Lourenço and his loved ones good health, and the people of Angola - peaceful skies and success.
