President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, congratulated Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and the friendly Chinese people on the 66th anniversary of the proclamation of the People's Republic of China. BELTA was informed about this by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The congratulatory message states that this year this holiday is closely linked with the anniversary date – the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the victory of the Chinese people in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that it was a great honour for him to attend the solemn events in Beijing in September this year and to pay tribute to the memory of millions of Chinese citizens who heroically fought for the liberation of their Motherland and fell in the struggle against the aggressors.
The President of Belarus emphasised that today, under the wise leadership of Xi Jinping, China's authority in the international arena is strengthening, the well-being of the Chinese people is increasing, and the country is carrying out important reforms for its future.
"The current year in the development of Belarusian-Chinese relations is characterised by the active development of dialogue at the highest and high levels, new dynamics of contacts between regions, enterprises and organisations of the two countries, and intensive cultural, scientific and humanitarian exchanges," the congratulatory message reads.
The President of Belarus expressed confidence that the impetus given to bilateral cooperation by the official visit of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus in May 2015 and subsequent high-level contacts will allow the comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China to be elevated to a qualitatively new level.
