The current government is supported by over 87% of the population. Nevertheless, there are still issues that the government acknowledges and intends to rectify. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during a meeting with the CIS Secretary-General and Head of the CIS Observer Mission, Sergey Lebedev, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Based on my experience, we are trying to analyze the course of this campaign. And we see that the current government is supported by over 87% of the population. They support it unequivocally. There is a small number of undecided individuals. Naturally, there are also dissatisfied people. We understand this perfectly well. Therefore, in this electoral cycle, we need to analyze and draw appropriate conclusions, and we need to correct some things. We do not have many such problems. We will address and fix them within a year. And I am confident that even more people will come to the presidential elections," said the Head of State.
"Although this will not be an easy process. As a specialist in this matter, you understand that they will try to destabilize us very seriously. But we are ready for this. We have prepared very seriously and are ready for the upcoming elections, which will take place in a year," added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
As BELTA reported, citing data from the Central Election Commission of Belarus, voter turnout in the recent elections exceeded 73%, and in some regions, it was around 77%.
